People often ask me about the history of Potrero. The word “Potrero” actually means “pasture” in English, which is exactly what this area was before it was developed. With the exception of Pacific Heights, the geography of Potrero itself is relatively flat, making it easy for residents to walk and bike from place to place in the town and to the beach. This ease of access creates a wonderful sense of community, with restaurants, breweries, beach bars, and grocery stores all within walking distance.
To boot, the new Flamingo Marina, currently under construction, sits at the southernmost point of Playa Potrero. This marina will have approximately 180 slips and there are plans for a 5-star hotel, a small convention center, and high-end shopping, retail and restaurants. The fishing in Potrero is legendary and the waters are full of Sailfish, Marlin, Snapper and Yellow Fin Tuna.
If you are a boater, rest assured that, if you own Casa Thu, you will be able to see your boat in the Flamingo Marina from this home. You will be able to see the sailboats coming in and out of the harbor, and witness some of the most amazing sunsets that Costa Rica has to offer.
Casa Thu is 15 minutes from quality health care, a professional golf course, and nine gorgeous beaches. It’s located just 40 minutes from the bustling nightlife of Tamarindo, and 45 minutes from the Liberia International Airport.
